Elevator Stiffeners Rough Cut (12/31/09)

1.5 Hours -

No pictures, but I finished rough cutting the elevator stiffeners today.  Twenty-nine of them in all.  As with the rudder stiffeners, I simply drew a line between the notches and cut with the band saw.

After cutting them all to size, I started working on finishing the stiffeners for the right elevator.  I got as far as filing down the taper with a vixen file before deciding to call it a day.  The remainder of the finishing work will be done with the Scotch-Brite wheel.

I’ve decided to building the elevators one at a time starting with the right.  The right is the simpler side since it doesn’t have a trim tab.  Also, if I make a mistake, I’m hoping to catch it and have a fix before proceeding to the left!
