Left, Top Elevator Stiffeners Finished (1/17/10)

1.2 Hours -

Today was another short day of work on the plane.  Once again, there was just a little bit of stuff to do before I would reach a priming step and have to leave parts to dry.

First off, I finished the left, top rudder stiffeners.  I had rough cut these and drilled them to the skin quite awhile ago, but then sat them aside to finish later.  Today, I filed down all the edges with a vixen file and then polished them up on the Scotch-Brite wheel.

Next, I dimpled all the stiffeners using my pneumatic squeezer.

The pneumatic squeezer makes dimpling quick and easy!

Finally, I prepped the stiffeners for priming by roughing them up with a purple Scotch-Brite pad followed by cleaning them with some acetone.  Once prepped for primer, I re-marked them so that I would know the order that they attach to the skin, and then sprayed them with a coat of NAPA 7220 primer.

The left elevator stiffeners lined up for priming.
