0.8 Hours -
Today is the big day. My wing kit is scheduled for delivery between 12-4pm! I needed to make some space in the garage for the crates, and, while doing so, got distracted by the landing light components sitting on my work bench.
Figuring an hour or so of work would be good while the temperature was still relatively cool (10am, 85 degrees Fahrenheit, and about 90% humidity…summer in South Texas!), I grabbed the remaining tube stock and finished making the angled spacers. Once I had all of the spacers made, I assembled one of the four lights to make sure everything went together correctly.
At this point, I decided to stop working on the lights until I’m ready to attach them to the wingtips. This is primarily because I do not want to remove the protective vinyl from the aluminum and then scratch it accidently. The large aluminum wingtip insert acts like a mirror and I need to keep it as shiny as possible.
ABF just called…30 minutes until wing delivery!
