Prepped Right Tank Ribs (9/22/10)

1.0 Hours -

I didn’t want to spend all night in the garage, but I wanted to do something on the plane that would leave me with a sense of accomplishment after an hour of work.  Having been in a deburring mode the last couple of sessions, I decided it was finally time to finish deburring and prepping the right tank ribs.  This included Scotchbriting the edges, using emery cloth on the leading edge tabs, straightening the flanges and fluting.

I also spent some time disassembling the left tank and positioning the stiffeners on the skin.  I’ll final drill the stiffeners to the left tank during my next session, then I’m going to set the left tank aside and catch-up on the right.  Originally, I was planning on finishing the left tank and then starting the right.  However, building both wings at the same time has worked well so far, and I see no reason not to continue this way.
