Today, I finished drilling all the holes in the right fuel tank to their final size. I also countersunk the rows of skin to baffle holes. With this done, the right tank is now at the same stage where I left off on the left tank.
Next, I started fabricating the T-405 tank attach angles. These are made from some 2” x 2.5” x 3/8” angle stock. Since the T-410 reinforcing plate fits inside the rib perfectly, I used it as a guide for cutting the rib side of the T-405 bracket. On the other side, I used a 1” radius on the curved portion and then just eyeballed the rest of it. All of the rough cuts were made on my band saw. Its going to take a lot of work with a file and Scotchbrite wheel to smooth the brackets out.

I started cutting the T-405 tank attach angle from the stock supplied by Van's. The inboard rib is used to make the contour and I was careful to make one left and one right.

Both tank attach brackets are rough cut. It's going to take a lot of work to smooth out this thick stock.
